Throughout the last two years of the pandemic, companies around the globe navigated a change to remote and then hybrid work models for their teams. At the opening keynote for this year’s America’s Claims Executive Forum and Expo (ACE), Jodie Hopkins, commercial lines integrated operations leader for Westfield Insurance, explained some of the factors necessary to managing these workforces.
She advised leaders to be intentional about engaging with their teams. “Check on them regularly, learn to read your team members remotely and look to see who’s trying to participate in the conversation.”
Hopkins also said that it’s critical to ensure they have the right tools, whether that’s a laptop, a monitor or other supplies required to accomplish their jobs. And she highlighted the importance of holding everyone accountable to meet the goals and expectations of the team even while operating in a remote environment.
