Wholesale insurance broker Burns & Wilcox has added five new associates across the country to its private client and flood teams within its Personal Insurance practice group. The professionals joining Burns & Wilcox teams include Nelson Oliva, Kristopher Guasch, Andrew Sable, Jeremy Bright and Patrick Sullivan.
The broker said that as the personal insurance markets continue to see non-renewals, moratoriums, carrier withdrawals and tightening capacity, the demand for expertise is on the rise. The brokerage said its own personal insurance business grew by double-digits in 2021.
Oliva joins as a senior underwriter in the Private Client practice, based in Los Angeles. Oliva brings 25 years of personal insurance experience and spent the last 17 years at Gorst & Compass Insurance in Los Angeles. He specializes in the affluent client market.
Guasch joins as a personal insurance underwriter based in Miami, Florida. He spent the last five years at Hull & Co., where he specialized in personal insurance.
Sable joins as a personal insurance underwriter based in Long Island, New York. With 35 years of industry experience, he most recently worked at AmWins where he managed the high-net-worth team.
Bright joins as a personal insurance underwriter based out of Atlanta, Georgia. He has 12 years of industry experience, having spent the past three years at AmWins and specializes in admitted and non-admitted high-net-worth underwriting and broking.
Sullivan joins as a flood underwriter based out of Denver, Colorado. He most recently worked at International Catastrophe Insurance Managers (ICAT) where he specialized in earthquake and flood insurance for the western U.S. region.
AmTrust Forms New Leadership Team of E&S Division
Specialty insurer AmTrust Financial Services has created a new leadership team for its Excess and Surplus (E&S) division promoting and expanding the roles of five executives.
Senior Vice President Erich Bublitz will lead the division. Bublitz recently joined AmTrust from the Admiral Insurance Group, where he most recently served as the senior vice president of operations. In that role, he was responsible for home office underwriting, including the office of the chief underwriting officer, information technology, specialty underwriting, and other administrative areas.
Shannon Piotrowski has promoted to vice president, Brokerage New Business Team, and will lead the team. Previously, Piotrowsk was director, Underwriting, with responsibility for the Central and Southern new business teams. She has been with AmTrust E&S for four years and previously served in brokerage underwriting positions with other carriers.
Caseta Paul has been promoted to vice president, Brokerage Renewal Team. Paul will expand her role managing the brokerage renewal team, focusing on continuing to refine the book and ensure rate adequacy of renewals. She started as an underwriter with AmTrust E&S in 2017 after numerous years at managing general agencies and carriers.
Jackie Hennig is now to lead for Unsupported Excess Team. Hennig will be responsible for building and leading the underwriting team, setting the underwriting strategy, and achieving underwriting profit objectives in her new role. Previously, she was the leading production underwriter for the unit and was instrumental in AmTrust’s successful launch of this product in 2021.
Christopher Fylak is expanding to Binding Platform responsibility. Fylak has served as an executive member of the E&S leadership team since 2017 and will continue in this role with an expanded focus on developing and enhancing AmTrust’s E&S binding platform. Her joined AmTrust E&S after a number of years at a leading binding carrier.
